furnished houses at quite reasonable

The local people are very friendly,
kind and hospitable. Staying in the local
community, I was able to understand
their hard lives. Amazingly, they are
very aware of protecting the environ-
ment.
In this pristine area, there are many
beautiful beaches with white sand and
clear water. The three most famous
beaches are Bai Chuong, Bai Nom, and
Nha Cu. Bai Chuong is a perfect place to
watch sunrise, as is Bai Nom, where it is
also possible to camp. Nha Cu beach is
loved by many visitors for the scuba div-
ing on offer and watch dawn. However,
I opted not to dive here, instead taking
a refreshing swim.
When the night fell, we tried a spe-
cial seafood BBQ buffet on the beach.
It was amazingly delicious, with fresh
squid, snails and fantastic lobster grilled
over the charcoal. We also enjoyed rice
porridge and various other seafood vari-
eties caught that very afternoon.
Next day, we woke at dawn to trav-
el to Bai Chuong beach to see sunrise,
capturing the most brilliant moment
of the day while swimming in the cool
water. The amazing landscapes of rock,
sea and sand under the sunbeams soon
filled my camera’s memory cards and I
had to switch to using my phone.
When the sun rose high, I followed
Hoang for a stroll around the island
from Small Gate to Hon Co Canyon.
Then we stopped for a breakfast of
bread and fish pie before heading back
to our hostel to enjoy Banh Can cake
with squid and eggs.
Later, we continued to explore the
peaks of Binh Ba island where we en-
joyed the wonderful panorama of the
island with views of Me Beach and Tur-
tle Islet, as well as Nha Cu beach in the
distance. The route to the top is very
beautiful, with lovely greenery blow-
ing in the sea breeze. We also visited
some war relics on the island and many
ancient pagodas, temples and tombs.
Before leaving, we enjoyed lunch
with other hostel guests. We spoke to-
gether about the island’s rich nature,
its friendly people and excellent food,
each of us agreeing that the rustic life
on offer beside these peaceful and pris-
tine beaches is fit for a king.
The coastline of the island is quite
unlike any other in Vietnam
