100 poor children.
Besides, the bank has also com-
bined forces with fresh milk producer, TH
Group, which it provides investment con-
sultancy services for. Together they will
present hundreds of thousands of glasses
of fresh milk to many poor households.
Since 1994, BAC A BANK has al-
ways focused on helping needy people.
“We want to bring smiles to them. This
is one of our core values helping us to
ride out difficulties and hit successes,”
said Binh.
Specifically, last year, the bank
also gave VND1 billion ($47,620) for
30 poor children to have their hearts
operated.
Additionally, the bank and TH
Group have also combined with Thanh
Nien newspaper to grant scholarships
worth VND1.32 billion ($62,857) to
250 students who are children of sol-
diers on duty in Vietnam’s offshore
Spratly Islands.
BAC A BANK also joined hands
with Nghe An’s Department of Educa-
tion and Training to grant VND280
million (over $13,300) to needy pupils.
Many pupils have received the bank’s
scholarships for their studies at univer-
sities and colleges.
“I had never thought about this
scholarship, yet it came to me. It has en-
couraged me to continue studies,” said
Truong Thi Thanh Huyen, a very poor
pupil from Hung Yen province’s Nhue
Duong commune. Huyen, who suffers
from blood cancer, was granted a BAC A
BANK scholarship last year.
“The scholarship has been a big gift
for me. I have used it to buy books and
other study materials,” said Le Thi Van, an
excellent student from Chau Binh com-
mune in Nghe An’s Quy Chau district.
Over the course of her four year degree
she will receive VND40 million ($1,904)
in scholarship grants from the bank.
Van’s family is very poor, with in-
come coming from rice and maize cul-
tivation which provides sufficient food
for 10 months of the year.
Full of confidence for the future of
Thang, Thuong, Van and other thou-
sands of pupils and students, Binh says:
“The grants may be small, but they
show we are optimistic about the pupils
having a bright future.”
Besides focusing on helping needy
pupils and students, BAC A BANK has
also extended its support to poor
households and people.
Furthermore the bank’s youth union
has also launched a warm clothes for
winter programme across the nation.
Recently, the bank gave VND50 mil-
lion ($2,380) for the poverty-stricken
family of Ha Thi Thao in Nghe An’s Do
Luong district. Her mentally-disturbed
husband’s father suffered a brain haemor-
rhage and paralysis, while her husband’s
mother was also hit by brain issues.
Besides, two poor pupils in Nghe
An were also presented VND120 million
($5,714) to treat kidney disease.
The bank has also presented
500,000 fresh TH-true-MILK-branded
milk packages worth VND13.44 bil-
lion ($640,000) to poor children in the
northern provinces of Dien Bien, Ha
Giang and Lao Cai.
During the Tet festival, the bank also
presented 600 packages of gifts worth
VND300 million ($14,300) to poor peo-
ple in many localities in Nghe An.
During 2013 and 2014, the bank
linked up with the Vietnam Red Cross
Society Association to present more
than 400 calves worth VND3.8 bil-
lion ($181,000) to poor households
nationwide.
“It is BAC A BANK’s tradition to fuel
needy pupils and build a study-oriented
society. We are committed to continu-
ing our community-oriented activities
with a view to building a better society.
This will also create a sustainable BAC A
BANK,” Binh says.
