tance to planning and investing in
infrastructure to attract investors. The
provincial authorities are focusing on
upgrading essential technical infra-
structure, instigating major projects
along the coast.
The province has also acted to
speed up conservation and restoration
work at cultural and historical relics,
including the Cham towers, Hoang De
citadel and the Museum of King Quang
Trung. Work is also underway to de-
velop traditional festivals, craft-villages
and martial arts villages.
Statistics show that the number of
tourists visiting the province has in-
creased in recent years. In 2012, Binh
Dinh welcomed 1.46 million tourists,
including 120,747 foreign tourists - an
increase of 24 per cent over 2011. The
income from tourism rose accordingly,
reaching VND474bn in 2012, a year-on-
year increase of 30 per cent over 2011.
Investment and trading activities
in the province are rising, with many
new luxurious hotels and resorts be-
ing opened, such as Life Resorts (Bai
Dai beach), Royal Hotel & Healthcare
Resort, Saigon-Quy Nhon hotel and Hai
Au hotel. There are many other 4 and 5
star hotels and resorts under construc-
tion, including the Vinh Hoi tourism
complex and the Trung Luong Resort.
In 2012, there were 120 accommo-
dation options throughout the province,
including four 4 stars and one 3 star ho-
tel. In total, 2,923 rooms were available.
In terms of traffic routes, many
strategic roads have been built or up-
graded. Furthermore, the new runway
at Phu Cat airport has been finished, so
many more flights are expected. An Air-
bus plane is now used for the Hanoi and
Ho Chi Minh City to Quy Nhon route.
Dieu Tri Railway station has been
upgraded and a special five-star train
between Ho Chi Minh City and Quy
Nhon is now plying the route.
The main target is to turn tourism
into a key industry by capitalizing on the
province’s natural potential, improved in-
frastructure and open-door policies.
Binh Dinh is now on the radar of
many investors and travel agencies, as
well as tourists both inside and outside
the country.
