T
he natural resources of Binh
Dinh province are very diverse.
With 134km of coast, the prov-
ince has many pristine beaches
such as Quy Nhon, Hai Giang and Vinh
Hoi. Other top sightseeing spots include
Ham Ho, Ghenh Rang, Phuong Mai Pen-
insula, Eo Gio strait and the Hoi Van
mineral springs. The province is now
drawing on all this to develop eco-sea
tourism, adventure tourism, leisure
tourism and wellness tourism.
Binh Dinh is a land abundant in
ancient cultural and historical traditions
and is well-known for its ancient Cham
relics, with a total of 14 intact towers.
Some, including Duong Long and Banh
It, are considered among the Southeast
Asia’s best. From the 11th century to
the 15th, Binh Dinh was the capital of
the Champa kingdom, known as Vijaya
to the Champa themselves and Do Ban
or Cha Ban to the Vietnamese. Later, it
became the capital under King Thai Duc
Nguyen Nhac of the Tay Son dynasty.
The museum of King Quang Trung
is one of the area’s main attractions. It
preserves valuable and historical items
from the Tay Son farmer insurgency
and of Quang Trung himself.
Binh Dinh is also a land of martial
arts. A local saying goes: “Let them
come to Binh Dinh to see Binh Dinh
girls, beat rod and performmartial arts”.
In addition, the area is also the cra-
dle of Boi Opera.
Even today, much of the area’s age-
old traditions are kept alive through
colourful and eventful festivals, typical
craft-villages and unique cuisines.
Furthermore, the province has a
perfect traffic system and convenient
routes linking it to neighbouring prov-
inces. Comprehensive electricity, post
and telecommunications, banking and
finance systems as well as health care,
education, commercial and trading ac-
tivities are helping to push provincial
tourism development.
According to Ho Quoc Dung, vice
standing chairman of Binh Dinh Pro-
vincial People’s Committee, in the
master plan for Vietnam’s tourism
development to 2020, Binh Dinh is
named as an important link in the
central tourism chain.
In recent years, besides promul-
gating policies to encourage invest-
ment for tourism development, Binh
Dinh has also attached special impor-
