WEF official: January forum to focus on Vietnam

Managing Director of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Philipp Rosler affirmed that the upcoming forum in January 2015 in Davos, Switzerland will focus on events about Viet Nam, particularly ‘Viet Nam Night’, which is expected to attract the most influential politicians and businessmen.

Rosler made the affirmation during a meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in Ha Noi on November 28.

PM Dung lauded Rosler’s visit to the country and his presence at the workshop ‘Business’ role in enhancing national competitiveness in international integration’ held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the WEF.

He asked the WEF to work closely with Viet Nam to evaluate the national competitiveness annually, especially finding shortcomings, reasons and solutions to improve the country’s national competitiveness.

PM Dung expressed his hope that the WEF will support and organize Viet Nam’s events at the upcoming Davos forum.

For his part, Rosler said that with outcomes and development potential in the future of Viet Nam’s economy when the ASEAN Community is being established by 2015, the country’s leading role in constructing and establishing the community has drawn great attention of investors and businessmen around the world.

National competitiveness is a global issue, thus the WEF will work with Viet Nam to evaluate and improve the country’s national competitiveness, support and attend important economic forums and events in Viet Nam and the region in the future, Rosler said.
