Vietnam’s bodybuilders bring home gold, silver medals

Vietnamese bodybuilder Pham Van Mach, from An Giang Province, won a gold medal in the Asian Men’s Bodybuilding 55kg category at the World Bodybuilding & Physical Sports Championships in Thailand.

This is the sixth gold medal Mach has won in bodybuilding competitions in Asia. In 2000, he won a silver medal at the world championship in Malacca in Malaysia.

Mach won his previous five gold medals in five consecutive years and after a gap since 2005 this is his sixth gold medal. He has now ascertained his position as best bodybuilder in the Asian arena.

Nguyen Van Lam won a bronze medal in the Asian Men’s Bodybuilding 65kg category.

The Vietnamese squad yesterday also grabbed three silver and five bronze medals. One silver medal was won by female bodybuilder Nguyen Thi My Tram in the World Women’s Physical Fitness category.

The Asian and World Bodybuilding & Physical Sports Championships 2011 took place in Bangkok in Thailand from October 5-7 attracting competitors from 34 countries worldwide.

Vietnam was represented by 15 bodybuilders at this event

The competing rounds stretched over 2 days in which the Vietnamese delegation achieved their goals  and brought home two gold medals in the Asian category, one gold medal in the World Women’s category, 3 silver medals and 6 bronze medals.
