The Vietnam national futsal team had a nice start at the 2010 Hanoi International Futsal Championship as they beat the Thai Stars 3-2 in their opening match yesterday at Quan Ngua gymnasium in Hanoi.

Vietnam created waves of attacks right from the start and, taking advantage of Thai goalkeeper Rojjanametheesap, Bao Quan opened the scoring for the hosts in the 10th minute.

After the break, the Thai Stars took back control of the ball and put a lot of pressure on the Vietnamese side. In the 31st minute, Suthiporn equalised for the Thai team from a corner kick, however, only one minute later, a devilish shot by Hoang Giang helped Vietnam take the lead once again.

Unfortunately, a mistake by the Vietnamese defence then gifted the Thai Stars another equaliser.

In the remaining time, both teams pushed ahead seeking victory and Lady Luck smiled on the hosts as Minh Giang's last -minute goal sealed a 3-2 victory for Vietnam.

In an earlier match, Qatar crushed Chinese Taipei 7-3 and Qatar currently top the standings thanks to a better goal difference compared to Vietnam.
