Vietnam, Belarus head to trade value of US$1 bln

Belarusian PM Andrei Kobyakov expected that the Vietnamese State President’s official visit to Belarus will create a strong impetus for enhancing cooperation in all fields in the future at his meeting with State President Tran Dai Quang on June 27 in Minsk, the capital city of Belarus.

Mr. Quang hailed the achievements in the two nations’ traditional and comprehensive cooperative relations, regarding it as a foundation for further effective cooperation in such areas as economics, trade and investment.

He welcomed the establishment of an automobile production and assembly plant between the two sides, affirming that the Vietnamese Government facilitates the operation of the joint venture and hoped that a number of new projects in potential areas including agricultural processing, mechanics, infrastructure and subways will be launched.

Viet Nam is willing to help Belarus get access to other markets in ASEAN, he asserted.

He appraised the two nations for upgrading the Viet Nam-Belarus Inter-Governmental Committee on Economic, Trade, Scientific and Technological Cooperation to improve the effectiveness of their high-raking leaders’ agreements, striving to attain the two-way trade turnover of US$500 million and US$1 billion in the future.

The guest expressed his thanks to Belarusian functional agencies and authorities to create favorable conditions for Overseas Vietnamese in Belarus to stabilize their lives, contributing to the two nations’ traditional relationship, proposing Belarus facilitate the exit and entry of Vietnamese people to Belarus.

PM Andrei Kobyakov confirmed that the Viet Nam-Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement and the Viet Nam-Belarus Protocol on motorized vehicle manufacturing in Viet Nam will bring large opportunities to promote economics, trade and investment between the two sides, directing Belarusian ministries, agencies and businesses to join hands with Vietnamese partners to effectively realize the agreements.

The two leaders expected to continue further cooperation in other fields of national defense-security, science-technology, culture-sports-tourism, education and training, affirming that inked cooperative agreements will create a legal foundation to expand cooperation in the future.

State President Quang conveyed PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s invitation to visit Viet Nam to PM Andrei Kobyakov and the host gladly accepted.
