Vietnam International Bank (VIB) has collaborated with DesignBold to organise the “Innovation Contest” for both amateur and professional designers aiming to encourage the community to design an innovative advertising poster on one of three topics which are important to VIB.

From April 17 to May 5, 2017, any creative individual will be able to join the contest, selecting one of the three topics. The topic information is available at: www.vib.com.vn

All designs must be implemented on www.designbold.com to make the competition fair to all entrants. For round one, all submissions will be judged and the top 10 of these will be selected to go to the next round. During round two, the 10 submissions will be posted online to be voted on by the general public via VIB’s Facebook page as well as being nominated by the board of judges to select the two final winners.

“DesignBold is expected to change the designing experience by offering a platform connecting professional designers, marketers and clients (mostly small-medium enterprises without demand for full-time professional designers) from all over the world,” Hung Dinh, founder and CEO of DesignBold and a member of the board of judges, said. “With the designbold platform, the process to create an advert will be shortened and be much more efficient. Two weeks after launch, DesignBold earned $132,366 in revenue with over 3,000 orders.”

“This innovation contest is not only bringing the new experience to the design community by offering a new technology platform from a start-up, but also to encourage the start-up community in Vietnam to continue to launch successful products,” Chris Elkin, CEO of Aleph Labs and also a member of the board of judges, said.

Start-ups have received a lot of attention recently, from students to professionals, even more senior members of the community who are passionate about contributing to society. The number of start-ups with innovative products delivered benefits society by increasing employment, contributing to the state budget and increasing overall capabilities within Vietnam. The support of reputable financial organisations to enable start-ups to be successful through mentoring, and connections with potential investors to aid with fund raising will continue to aid the future growth of the start-up community in Vietnam.

The collaboration with and support of the start-up community from VIB is one of the reasons The Banker, Financial Times nominated the “Bank of the year, Vietnam 2016” award to VIB. In the middle of April, 2017, VIB supported Vietnam Silicon Valley to successfully organise the VSV Investor BootCamp where any individual or organisation is more connected and professional in joining start-up investment.

Warren Cammack – head of innovation and general manager of CBA capability exchange at VIB, an active member in participating to encourage the development of the start-up eco-system in Vietnam and Australia, joined a VSV event to discuss innovation. Cammack had more than 15 years working experience in the digital sector, with 11 years working in Fintech. Cammack is one of the members of the board of judges for the contest too.
