The team of students from RMIT University Vietnam has placed in the top 4 teams from around the world at the 2012 KPMG International Case Competition (KICC) held recently in Hong Kong.

This year represented the first time that a team from Vietnam participated in the prestigious global competition.

KICC, a global student recruitment initiative now in its ninth year, drew some 6,000 students from more than 300 universities in 24 countries to compete against each other in developing solutions to realistic business scenarios. This challenge represents the complexity KPMG firms’ professionals tackle every day, working with some of the world’s most notable organisations.

KICC offers an opportunity for students to experience the fast-paced world of casework, meet new people, improve networking skills and develop a global mindset. Students also receive valuable feedback from KPMG leadership and get a window into the world of KPMG.

The team of students from The University of Hong Kong was ultimately selected as the winner, however Team Vietnam drew much praise from the judges for the entire week due to their innovative approach, insight into the subject matter, and the passion exhibited in their presentations. The team included Trinh Hong Duc, Nguyen Nhu Ai, Quach Kiem Thien Trang and Hoang Bao Chau.

“KPMG is proud to provide this opportunity for students to learn by simulating complex, real-world business issues,” stated Auvarin Phor, KPMG in Vietnam’s head of People, Performance & Culture. “The team from RMIT showed that they were truly world class by making the finals of the competition in our very first year of participation. I know that everyone at KPMG in Vietnam, RMIT University Vietnam, as well as the rest of the country is extremely proud of their achievements.”

KICC is yet another way that KPMG member firms demonstrate their commitment to supporting education, in addition to offering outstanding local internships. In fact, KPMG ranked 2nd in Universum’s 2010 and 2011 index of the “world’s most attractive employers,” topping the Big Four.
