This is also the main location of the company’s flagship Long Son Petrochemicals complex, which SCG has developed together with PetroVietnam since 2008.
The playground, which is part of SCG’s commitment to local human development, costs nearly VND2.5 billion ($110,087) and is made of high-quality materials produced by SCG and designed to provide a safe and smart playing space for the children.
After this project, SCG will build two more playgrounds for Long Son commune, one for Long Son 1 Primary School and one for Tuoi Tho Kindergarten.
“SCG commits to long-term development and promoting better living for communities in Vietnam, especially to the homes of our operations. We believe that children are the future of the nation, so SCG has developed many social responsibility programmes to improve children’s living quality, including the SCG Sharing the Dream playground which will better both mental and physical education,” said Somchai Wangwattanapanich, vice president of SCG Chemicals.
“Based on the good feedback about our first 820-square-metre SCG Sharing the Dream playground in Hoang Van Thu Park, Ho Chi Minh City, we have decided to replicate the model in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, specifically in Long Son commune—the home of our strategic Long Son Petrochemicals project,” added Wangwattanapanich.

The SCG Sharing the Dream playground set is made of a premium quality PE plastic resin from SCG Chemicals, which is especially suitable for outdoor applications due to its UV resistant properties. It is specially designed to ensure children’s safety. The playground at Long Son 2 Primary School is ready to serve nearly 800 students from Grade 1 to Grade 5.
“A high-quality and modern playground for the children has been our dream for a long time. A proper playground will facilitate our teaching as well as provide our pupils a space to play, learn, and interact with each other. It also encourages children to go to school and enjoy learning. We appreciate SCG and LSP’s support in helping our children grow,” stated Nguyen Thi Le Hang, headmaster of Long Son 2 Primary School.
Throughout SCG’s long-term commitment to the local community of Long Son commune, the corporation has initiated many projects focusing on human development. Chief amongst them is the SCG Sharing the Dream scholarship for high-school students, the renovation of Ba Ria-Vung Tau’s School for Disabled Children, and the annual children’s day celebration. The latest activity is “Kick & Share by SCG,” a football clinic where children of Ba Ria-Vung Tau were taught football skills by national football players from Hanoi Football Club.
