Parkson Vietnam’s successful Go Green continues next month with two ‘Go Bike’ days – one in Hanoi on May 5 and one in Haiphong on May 12.

The latest initiative follows on from ‘Earth Hour’ and ‘Planting Day’ as Parkson strives to press home the importance of protecting the world in which we live.

The campaign “Go Green”, which has taken place each year for the last three years, runs from March 31 to the end of May, including a series of initiatives:  Earth Hour Planting Day, Go Bike, No Bag Day. This year’s campaign has witnessed   high participation from customers, the media and Parkson employees. The programme is also a part of Parkson’s social manifesto, which emphasises sustainable development in Vietnam.

‘Go Bike’ will feature a number of interactive activities to raise green awareness. Participating in this event will be Miss Parkson, Parkson staff, members of the media and 20 customers. The first event in Hanoi starts on May 5, at Parkson Landmark 72.  Participants will then bike to Dich Vong park, where they will split into teams and compete in numerous activities including planting trees and collecting and classifying waste.

On May 6, the Haiphong event, will follow a similar ethos and will take place at Nguyen Du park. Parkson will also offer a park fund for Hanoi and Haiphong on these days. To become part of this event  customers can now register at any Parkson shopping center in Hanoi or Haiphong.

For the remainder of Go Green, Parkson will be encouraging consumers to stop using plastic bags. Customers with a receipt of VND4million ($200) or over will receive a re-usable shopping bag and a leaflet with information on the Go Green campaign.

Parkson will not give out plastic or paper bags to customers at its outlets on Saturdays from March 31 onwards. Shoppers, however, can purchase plastic and paper bags if they wish. Profits from this initiative will be contributed to Parkson Corporation’s Environment Protection Foundation.

Tham Tuck Choy, general director of Parkson Vietnam said: “ With the great efforts of our staff and customers, Go Green has achieved lots of success and proven the commitment of Parkson to the community of Vietnam. Go Bike continues our efforts to encourage the participation of customers in keeping the environment green.”
