On August 3, Emirates enhanced its presence in Southeast Asia with the launch of a new daily flight from Dubai to Yangon (Myanmar) and Hanoi (Vietnam).

The new route expands the airline’s network in Southeast Asia to 12 cities in seven countries and offers more choices and convenience to passengers travelling between Hanoi and Yangon to Dubai and beyond.

Hanoi is the airline’s new passenger gateway within the country, following the launch of services to Ho Chi Minh City in 2012 and the cargo-only service to Hanoi in 2013. The route is operated with a three-class configured Boeing 777-300ER.

The inaugural flight EK388 from Dubai arrived at Noi Bai international airport in Hanoi at 3.30 PM and was greeted by a traditional water cannon ceremony.

Passengers on the Emirates’ Boeing 777-300ER will be able to enjoy the airline’s award-winning ice system, up to 2,500 channels of the latest movies, as well as TV shows and music from around the world. Emirates flights to and from Vietnam also cater to local customers with Vietnamese-speaking cabin crew on board, and inflight cuisine options featuring popular Vietnamese dishes. As with all Emirates flights, travellers will be able to take advantage of the generous baggage allowance of up to 35kg in Economy Class, 40kg in Business Class, and 50kg in First Class.

Flight EK389 departs from Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport at 10.50 PM to arrive in Yangon at 0.20 AM. After a 90-minute wait on transfer, the flight then departs at 1.50 AM and arrives at Dubai International Airport at 5.05 AM. Inbound, flight EK388 departs Dubai at 3.30 AM and arrives in Yangon at 11.40 AM. It then departs Yangon at 1 PM, arriving at 3.30 PM in Hanoi.

“With an extensive global network of 155 destinations in 81 countries and territories, Emirates will help enhance connectivity between Hanoi and its neighbouring areas, providing more convenience and choice for travellers, additional opportunities for inbound tourism, and more export markets for regional products,” said Haitham Al Battawy, Emirates’ country manager for Vietnam, speaking at the inaugural flight reception.

“Flight EK388 touching down safely at Noi Bai international airport has turned over a new leaf for our passengers who will have more opportunities to fly with a 5-star airline and experience the best inflight entertainment with Emirates airline,” said Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, deputy director of Noi Bai international airport.

Receiving the World’s Best Airline award from SkyTrax in 2016, Emirates provides its customers with a wide range of choices across its global network of 154 destinations in 81 countries and territories, together with exceptional on-board offerings and services.
