FPT General Director suddenly resigns

Nguyen Thanh Nam suddenly left the position of general director of FPT - one of Vietnam’s biggest IT corporations - after his resignation letter was approved by the corporation’s management board.

According to an unconfirmed source, Truong Dinh Anh, 41, who is currently deputy general director of FPT cum chairman of FPT Telecom, will take over. Anh is known for his statement that he would become the country’s Prime Minister at the age of 40.

However, this information has yet to be confirmed by FPT.

Nguyen Thanh Nam’s biography

Nguyen Thanh Nam, born in 1961, concluded his doctorate thesis at the National University of Lomonosov in Moscow, Russia (formerly the Soviet Union, now Russian Federation) in 1988. Back to Vietnam, he joined other founders to establish FPT in the same year.

He started his career in FPT being the first programmer, data analyser, and system developer. He then diverted his attention to software for commercial banking and business management. He and his team have left their mark in many major IT projects in Vietnam during the 1990s.

From 1995 to 1999, he was appointed the director of the FPT Software Solution Center. By establishing FPT Software in the end of 1999, Nam was appointed general director of FPT Software.

FPT is the leading IT company in Vietnam, having obtained more than 1,000 international technology certificates.

FPT has been voted the “Most Prestigious IT Corporation in Vietnam”, “Best Enterprise Partner of the Year”, “Vietnam Golden Star” among other awards.
