EVN Telecom steps up

EVN Telecom is expanding its device distribution network through signing with two local distributors along with its cooperation with sisters under the Electricity of Vietnam Group.

On September 28, EVN Telecom, Electricity of Hanoi and Gia Nguyen signed a five-year business cooperation agreement offering EVN Telecom services.

Three sides will focus initially on developing metro telecom networks and offering released lines and broadband FTTx services. Dao Anh Son, Gia Nguyen company director, said it was a great opportunity to boost offering telecom services.

Hanoi Electricity’s Hai Ba Trung branch yesterday signed a cooperation agreement with Nhat Cuong Mobile Company to run retail mobile devices and a services showroom. Accordingly, Nhat Cuong Mobile will support the branch to provide EVN Telecom services including 3G services.

This move aims to raise its mobile subscribers. According to the Ministry of Information and Communications, EVN Telecom is at the bottom of market list by mobile operators in Vietnam by May, this year.

EVN Telecom had a market share of 1.1 per cent. While the country has around 139.9 million mobile subscribers by August, this year with around 14 million 3G subscribers.
