Representatives of more than 100 European firms operating in Vietnam participated in the first EuroCham Central Vietnam Business Forum (ECV Business Forum) to discuss economic and business opportunities in the central region of Vietnam, especially in Danang, Quang Nam, and Thua Thien-Hue provinces.

The event was organised by the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham), in collaboration with EU-Vietnam Business Network (EVBN) and KPMG, in Danang on November 24.

Experts and officials also discussed about investment practices, tax incentives, local talent management, and real estate development, among others. It was also a one-time opportunity to receive a briefing from experts and the government on the current state of central Vietnam’s business potential.

Hoang Thuy Duong, partner at KPMG said, “Since our Danang office opened twelve months ago, we have made significant progress in regional trade promotion activities, investor relations, education, and campus recruitment. We immediately recognize the alignment between the ECV’s missions and KPMG’s strategy and core values in being conducive to the region’s socioeconomic development.”

“We commit to work shoulder-to-shoulder with EuroCham, its members, and the provincial authorities of Danang, Quang Nam, and the neighbouring provinces, to make the initiative a greater success,” Duong added.

In the forum’s framework, EuroCham held the official opening ceremony of its office in central Vietnam, marking the third EuroCham office in Vietnam after Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The office is expected to start operation in January 2017.

According to Michael Behrens, chairman of EuroCham, the central region is considered to harbour the potential to become Vietnam’s leading investment destination in the future. Thus, establishing the representative office aims to support European firms to expand their operations in this region. EuroCham also commits to giving the local business community a boost in terms of business events, advocacy support, and networking opportunities.
