Diverse activities mark European Days in Vietnam

A wide range of cultural and intellectual activities will be held during European Days in Vietnam, said Franz Jessen Head of the EU Delegation in Hanoi on April 2.

The programme will start with special concert jointly performed by the Munich Symphony Orchestra (MSO), the Vietnam National Academy of Music (VNAM) and the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet Theatre (VNOB) in Hanoi, and another performance by Belgian pianist Eric Legnini in Ho Chi Minh City on May 9, to be followed by the BRIT Award nominated indie rock band Guillemots from the UK.

Meanwhile, the European Union National Institutes for Culture, (EUNIC), will organise the third European Literature Day to introduce the Vietnamese version of books recently published in Italy, Spain, Belgium, Germany, the UK, Denmark, France and Poland.

The annual European Film Festival will show 16 movies from 14 European member countries, which have been awarded or nominated for prestige awards.

The Swedish film Eat, Sleep, Die will be screened at the opening ceremony in Hanoi on May 16.

An exhibition on German manga, conferences on Vietnam’s choice for green development and EU-Vietnam trade exchange, two friendly football matches between children from Vietnam and Europe, and the European Food Festival will be held as part of European Days.
