Nha Trang. The Vinpearl Amusement
park features an outdoor game zone
with numerous extreme games. The
newly launched roller coaster, circle
carousel and mountain sled attract
teenagers.
For smaller kids, the dolphin per-
formance is one of the most interest-
ing things here. It’s great fun to watch
cute dolphins playing with balls. After
the performance, a colourful carnival
happens in the seaside streets of the
cuisine area and when the night falls,
it’s time for the brilliant water music
performance in front of several thou-
sands seated spectators.
On our second day we took a tour
to Nha Phu Lagoon and the Nha Phu
safari park.
After breakfast, Long Phu Tourist’s
car picked us up at out hotel. Our tour
guide could speak Vietnamese, English
and Russian. Nha Trang is now the hot-
test spot for Russian tourists to Vietnam
and you can see advertising boards in
Russian all over town.
Nha Phu is a big lagoon with an area
of 15,000ha lying between Nha Trang
Bay and Van Phong Bay. From the city
center, we drove around 15km to the
wharf. Tourists can buy tickets here, but
we booked a tour in advance. Our speed
boat quickly took us to the huge lagoon
surrounded by imposing mountain rang-
es and dotted with houseboats and their
lobster farms - this is the biggest lobster
center serving Nha Trang market.
Floating on the romantic lagoon for
around 30 minutes, we landed off Thi
islet where we could see a golden sandy
beach shaped like a crescent moon. First
we headed to the paintball area, with
its tanks, planes and blockhouses; how-
ever, it was rather strange, so most of
us then went to the animal circus stage.
Besides watching the circus, we ex-
perienced elephant and ostrich riding
and feeding deer. It’s exciting sitting on
an ostrich’s back as it gallops very fast.
We saw some tourists scream out when
sitting on elephant’s back because of
their great height. But most frighten-
ing of all is the snake experience, as
visitors can wear a python around their
neck. Some brave tourists even dared
to pay for two 10kg pythons to be hung
around them. Our kids were in heaven
watching it all.
We had lunch with an Austral-
ian couple who were on their holidays.
While most Russian tourists love the
animal circus, this couple complained as
they dislike seeing these animals being
ill-treated. So, they refused to attend the
afternoon performance of monkeys.
After lunch, we visited Lao islet
which people call Monkey Island because
there are around 1000 wild monkeys liv-
ing here. Here, it is also possible to visit
caves, drive speed boats, kayak, or ride
horses. What’s more, seafood is abun-
dant and served at reasonable prices.
