ha Trang has changed im-
measurably in the last half
decade. In the past, there
were a few multi-storey hotels
along Tran Phu, but today the road
is home to many sky-high hotels built
side by side overlooking the beach. As
a result, not everyone is as keen as they
once were on this coastal city.
However, the services for tourists
have greatly improved. On my recent
Nha Trang vacation, we stayed at the
InterContinental, one of the newest
5-star hotels in town, ideally located in
the heart of Tran Phu street.
The hotel boasts charming design
and decoration. It is part of a modern
complex including a business and shop-
ping center as well as a residence build-
ing offering leisure apartments. Many
Hanoians and Saigonese have bought
apartments here at more than $2000
per sqm. The majority of hotel guests
were Vietnamese because it was the
high season for local summer holidays.
Next to InterContinental are such
well-known upscale hotels as Sheraton
and Best Western Havana. Havana is the
tallest hotel in Nha Trang and also the
biggest hotel in Vietnam, offering 1,296
rooms. There are also several other big
hotels under construction, such as Star-
City and Muong Thanh Nha Trang.
Several years ago, if someone
wanted to stay in an upscale hotel,
most guests chose Vinpearl resort or Six
Senses Ninh Van Bay. But now they can
choose and enjoy many more high-end
options managed by well-known inter-
national hospitality groups.
Nha Trang not only offers the
chance to experience sea and island
tours, but also plenty of entertainment
facilities. On Hon Tre island, Vinpearl
Land is a modern amusement and en-
tertainment park tourists can spend
time enjoying from early morning till
dawn. Vietnam’s first cable car and the
world’s longest cable system stretches
above the sea to reach the park.
On the island, a high-end resort
offers 500 well-equipped rooms and
another more luxurious resort with
84 elegant rooms and a room rate of
$1000 per night. For this, you get 5+
star service from private butlers.
