We then travelled to Xep Beach, where we enjoyed snor-
kelling among lots of colourful coral and sea creatures. After
diving and swimming in the cool, clear water, the boat then
cruised to Bai Bac Beach. This is arguably the most gorgeous
beach on the island. I heard the sounds of the gentle breeze
and the waves crashing on to the shore, breathed in the
fresh sea air, gazed out at the crystal-clear water, touched the
smooth white sand, and sampled the local cuisine. We then
went trekking, with kayaking, boating, swimming, snorkel-
ling and even playing beach volleyball also options nearby.
At noon, lunch was served in the Cu Lao restaurant
at the Bai Bac Eco-beach Resort. There were several lo-
cal specialties for us to choose from, including a variety
of seafood with wild herbs. Nearby a group of romantic
bungalows sit on a hill. This was the first eco-beach resort
on the island, offering professional services and well-
equipped accommodation with a clear view to the ocean
and Hon Dai, an island where a swallow’s nest industry is
exploited by local people.
For those who love wild nature, this is the perfect
venue amidst the natural beauty of the land. When night
falls guests can light fires on the beach and enjoy a roman-
tic BBQ dinner under the moonlight, or board a boat and
go angling with local fisherman. Time seems to stand still
on this island paradise.
