Rex Hotel achieves gold quality
ORFARM welcomes Japanese expert

Melia Hanoi
has
announced
the appointment
of Manuel Ferriol
as its new direc-
tor of operations.
Hailing
from
Spain, Ferriol has
10 years of hospi-
tality experience
and will oversee the daily
operations of Melia Hanoi.
He first joined
Melia Hotels In-
ternational Com-
pany in 2004 and
progressed
to
key positions in
purchasing and
HR. He was resi-
dent
manager
of TRYP Bellver
(Spain) for one year prior to
arriving in Hanoi.
Rex Hotel has received
the National Gold Qual-
ity 2013 medal. The hotel is
among companies winning
a total of 20 gold medals
and 62 silver at the National
Quality Awards. Launched
in 1996, the annual Na-
tional Quality Awards aim
to honour companies’ ex-
cellent achievements based
on sales and services dur-
ing a year. This award aims
to raise quality and build a
good reputation in domestic
and international markets.

ana Saigon has recently an-
nounced that James Young
has been named area gener-
al manager of IHG South Vi-
etnam and general manager
of InterContinental Asiana
Saigon. “The InterContinen-
tal brand is trusted around
the world for its superior,
understated service and the
quiet luxury its guests have
come to know and appre-
ciate. It is my pleasure to
continue that fine tradition
and to support the growth
of the outstanding portfolio
of brands that IHG operates
around the world,” he said.
Pegasus has partnered
with the industry to hold its
Hospitality Career Pathway
Day for Danang students at
its new facility in the city. The
Pegasus programs give stu-
dents in Danang necessary
employability skills. Working
with its industry partners,
the school provides students
with potential pathways to
full-time, part-time or casual
employment. The event ben-
efited from the participation
of the InterContinental Da-
nang Sun Peninsula Resort,
the Crown Plaza Danang,
and the Novotel Premier Han
River, along with more than
300 local university students.
Through the Pegasus Train
and Place program, students
will undergo extensive prac-
tical training before being
helped to find employment
in the industry.
Thanks to advantages
such as synchronous plan-
ning, environmental friend-
liness, and quick response
to the diverse shopping de-
mand of local customers and
tourists, the Commercial and
Entertainment Complex Ha-
long Marine Plaza won the
Asia - Pacific Property Awards
2014 for the Best Retail De-
velopment. Located along
Hoang Quoc Viet street, and
at gateway to Halong City,
Halong Marine Plaza covers
a total area of more than
110,000 square metres and
has become an attractive
destination of tourists with a
lot of unique services includ-
ing the largest cinema chain
in Korea CGV Cinemas.
Vietnam’s first organic
food brand, ORFARM, has
welcomed the Japanese
EMRO expert Seko Kazuhiko
as its new supervisor of EM
technology in Southeast Asia
and Vietnam. Seko Kazuhiko
will be in charge of the im-
plementation of EM technol-
ogy at ORFARM farms in Vi-
etnam and other Southeast
Asian countries. During his
visit, he travelled to Orfarm
farm in Soc Son district in
the outskirts of Hanoi and
Orfarm’s showroom in the
downtown to evaluate the
quality of processing from
farm to store.
ORFARM produces safe,
hygienic, organic food. Its
animals and vegetables
benefit from a fresh, pure,
natural environment with-
out pesticides, harmful ad-
ditives, genetic modification
(GMO), antibiotics or pre-
servative agents.
