The Dai Noi, or forbidden city, is
also well worth visiting, as are the
grand lang (tombs) that dot the lush
countryside. The spiritual sense of
predominantly Buddhist Hue is reflect-
ed in the great number of graceful
pagodas such as Thien Mu, elegantly
situated on a sweeping arc of the Per-
fume River.
Discovering Hue should not be
about visiting sights, taking pictures
and ticking boxes. When visiting Hue’s
great tourist attractions, keep in mind
that exploring the setting and sur-
roundings can often be just as fulfilling
as the big sights themselves.
Khai Dinh mausoleum is one of the
most impressive of the city’s sites
