Though the heavy snow last month brought
many losses to the tribes in the northern
mountainous provinces of Vietnam, the white
covering gave many locals and tourists cheer-
ful and unforgettable moments with its amazing beau-
ty. Timeout’s contributor Le Viet Khanh captured the
most unique scenes of Nhiu Co San mountain range in
Y Ty commune, Bat Xat district in the northwest moun-
tainous province of Lao Cai.
This was the first time in 30 years that many of
the northern mountainous provinces of Vietnam saw
strong snow. Apart from Sapa and Y Ty in Lao Caie,
tourists could also see the rare phenomenon in Mau
Son (Lang Son province), Phia Oac (Cao Bang province)
and Tay Con Linh (Ha Giang province).
