the land and country I have lived and
travelled,” says the artist.
Now 60 year old, he focusses on
the slices of peaceful land amidst the
growing clamour of Vietnam. There-
fore, he is interested in tranquil villages
and he now paints such scenes as rural
boys caring for buffalos. Nostalgia for
a bygone era seems to be a dominant
theme.
With his typographic creations he
created more than simply letters and
figures - he applires his enthusiasm and
his romantic soul to conjur true art
works. He is a typographic magician
who makes his letters and figures sing
and dance
Viewers can see a strong, deter-
minded person in the word ‘man’, and
soft, charming folk in his rendering of
the word ‘woman’.
At 60, the artist seems very young,
still with an enthusiasm for painting
and creating, besides his usual work at
university and in design. Hoang Dinh
is now science advisor for the graph-
ics industry at Hanoi Open University,
member of the Vietnam Fine Arts As-
sociation and member of the Executive
Board Association Packaging Vietnam.

Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, 66 Nguy-
en Thai Hoc, Hanoi. Entrance free.
