TRUONG MINH TOAN
Director of sales and marketing of
Palm Garden Beach Resort & Spa
For a long time Hoi An has been
well-known as a paradise for leisure
tourism, but it’s the beginning for
MICE tourism here. However, Hoi An
can become an attractive destination
for MICE tourism and team building
activities. Not only is the town an at-
tractive world heritage site with beau-
tiful beaches, it has an advantaged
position nearby the emerging tourism
center of Danang with its international
airport and seaport.
Palm Garden is one of the top re-
sorts in the town. We offer a harmoni-
ous combination of meeting, exploring
and relaxing. However we are facing
stiff competition with Danang which
has many big 5-star hotels and resorts
with a huge amount of rooms and
conference facilities. While they can
host up to 1000 people, we can offer
services to a maximum of 400 guests.
Our human resources capacity is an-
other obstacle in terms of the foreign
languages level of staff; most are good
at English, but few know Russian, Jap-
anese, French or other tongues. The
high expense of MICE tourism services
is one of our difficulties as equipment
suppliers for conferences and team
building all have to come from Ho Chi
Minh City, Hanoi and Danang. Given
such disadvantages, I think Hoi An is
most suited to hosting meetings and
incentive business.
LE MINH SON
General manager of Dalat Edensee
Lake Resort & Spa
Inspired by the Rhine Valley region
in Germany, where Tieu Nhu Phuong,
owner of this resort, has lived, Edensee
is every bit as fabulous and sophis-
ticated as the area it is modeled on.
The decoration, from guest accommo-
dation to the stately lounge and glam-
orous rooftop terrace are distinctively
European, with chandeliers, beautifully
crafted furniture and marble fireplaces
all against a sweeping backdrop of the
emerald lake and lush pine forest. Fur-
thermore, our five meeting rooms are
the perfect venue for meetings, con-
ferences and company functions for
up to 2,000 people. Developing MICE
tourism, therefore, is our main target.
Our main clients are local and for-
eign corporate groups who hold their
conferences and meetings at our re-
sort and enjoy a vacation as well. We
have successfully hosted big events
for such companies as Fresenius Kabi
Bidiphar, Saigon Entrepeneur Club,
Getz Pharma, A. Menerini Sinparore,
Ford Vietnam, Galaxy Company, Sa-
conbank, Vietcombanks, Can Tho
Chemicals, Ministry of Finance and the
International Student Camp. However,
we never rest on our laurels - the team
at Edensee always strives to make sure
we are one of the top resorts.
MICE TOURISM
NGUYEN HUU TRI
General manager of
Eden Phu Quoc Resort
MICE tourism on Phu Quoc is at
the medium level in comparison to
other destinations around Vietnam,
but is has much potential. Currently
the infrastructure is still limited and
expenses such as electricity are high,
so the cost of a stay here is higher,
especially during peak season. What is
more, the lack of rooms in peak season
also makes the island less attractive.
However, I think in the near future the
island will become an ideal destination
for corporates to host their confer-
ences, meetings and big events.
According to the island’s master
plan, Phu Quoc can expect modern
infrastructure, with key investment in
the main road connecting the new
international airport with the town
centre. This main road has attracted
many international 4-star resorts to
open along it already.
Among these resorts, Phu Quoc
Eden Resort boasts the most beautiful
and longest private beach and swim-
ming pool. For a long term invest-
ment, our resort is built and equipped
with state of the art facilities to host
the big events. Our 106 luxury rooms
and bungalows feature a fresh con-
temporary design, preserving the
Vietnamese heritage while offering
outstanding comfort and luxury, mere
steps from the white sands. We have
already organised many big events,
such as a wedding party for Miss Vi-
etnam.
Phu Quoc offers a strategic loca-
tion with pristine beaches and ocean
waters, as well as the wildness and
mystery of the surrounding forest and
mountain range. It’s a perfect place to
hold events and combine them with
leisure. After meetings, guests can en-
joy delicious fresh seafood or experi-
ence day or night fishing, diving and
various watersport activities.
