A new take on
lacquer
Glass and lacquer
paintings are both famil-
iar to many, but when
lacquer paintings are
projected onto glass, it is
quite a new experience.
Nguyen Phi Oanh Oanh’s
exhibition does just this.
After studying fine art in
the US, Oanh found her
passion for Vietnamese
traditional lacquer. “The
paintings can be consid-
ered as slides which are
projected by re-designed
projectors onto stretched
silk cloth in wooden
frames,” she says.
