Quang Vinh, teed off the tournament at
midday on a fine early summer Sunday.
Over 150 golfers followed suit and an
exciting contest ensued.
When the sun went down, eve-
ryone headed to the club house for a
gala dinner of Western and Vietnamese
cuisine. Afterwards, live music got the
party started, but it was the auction
that created the most excitement of
the day.
The prize giving ceremony saw the
participants demonstrating true sports-
manshiop with plenty of cheers and
clapping from the crowd.
“I had so much fun today,” said
Nguyen Khanh Hoa of Sao Linh Ltd and
winner of two awards - longest wom-
en’s drive and the overall winner of the
women’s division. “People who play golf
are generally wealthy, so it is humani-
tarian to build a bridge from us, the golf-
ers, to the unlucky children. Because of
this, they can continue their study.”
The runner up in the women’s divi-
sion was Janet Wassenius, wife of the
Ericsson CEO. “We didn’t know about
the tournament when we first arrived,
so we only joined for the last two
years, but we will certainly be joining
this meaningful activity in the coming
years. It is wonderful to know what we
have done can help children in disad-
vantaged circumstances,” she said.

The seventh annual Swing for the Kids golf tournament, held at King’s Island
Golf Course, was a huge success. Together, hundreds of participants raised
VND1.2 billion for children in need. This brings the grand total raised by the
event to an impressive VND6.7billion.
