ince 2007, Swing for the Kids
has raised VND5.5 billion and
funded more than 6,000 schol-
arships to help disadvantaged
Vietnamese students in 38 provinces
nationwide.
The tournament is organised by
Vietnam Investment Review
in coop-
eration with the Foreign Investment
Agency under the patronisation of the
Ministry of Planning and Investment
and the Vietnam Learning Promotion
Association.
The Swing for the Kids 2013 char-
ity tournament will take place at the
King’s Island golf course (Dong Mo, Ha-
noi) on April 21, 2013. Former Deputy
Prime Minister and Chairman of Viet-
nam Learning Promotion Association,
Nguyen Manh Cam, and Minister of
Planning and Investment, Bui Quang
Vinh, are honourary chairmen of the
tournament.
144 golfers will tee off, including
politicians and representatives from
foreign organisations. They will play in
four divisions on a handicap basis.
An awards ceremony will be held
with a gala dinner, music show, lucky
draw and auction.
The main sponsors include Vinaus-
teel and SSE Steel (Diamond sponsor-
ship), Vingroup (Platinum Sponsorship),
and Kinderworld (Gold Sponsorship).
SeABank and BRG are the co-organisers
of the tournament and have also added
financial support for the long term.
All entry fees will be donated to the
charity fund. Meanwhile, the organisa-
tion board, as well as SeABank and BRG
Group, are considering connecting the
charity foundation to the group’s pri-
vate charity funds.
At the press conference, Alan
Young CEO of SSE Steel affirmed that
the company always places high priority
on the charitable activities in Haiphong
in particular and across the country in
general. Due to the respect for the hu-
manitarian meaning and effectiveness
of Swing for the Kids, SSE Steel and
Vinausteel have made a long term com-
mitment to the event.
