Video art
Tran Luong, one of the
first Vietnamese artists to
experiment with installation,
performance and video art,
is showing his latest video
work in Hanoi this month.
Last month, this work was
part of an exhibition at the
Guggenheim Museum, New
York. Entitled Lap Loe, it is
part of the interactive per-
formance series, Red Scarf/
Welts, which has already
been exhibited in China,
South Korea, Indonesia, and
Singapore. This art work was
inspired by the red scarfs
that pupils in Vietnam wear
over their shoulders.

Miming solo
As part of the pro-
gramme celebrating the
Japan – Vietnam Friend-
ship Year 2013, The Japan
Foundation Center for Cul-
tural Exchange in Vietnam
has invited Limuro Naoki
to perform his Mime solo
act, Time of Mime. Hav-
ing learned under Marcel
Marceau, the founder of
modern mime, Naoki has
performed at festivals all
around the world. He will
perform different shows
in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh
City.

Travel Mart 2013
Vietnam Internation-
al Travel Mart (VITM) will
be held for the first time
in Hanoi this April, featur-
ing more than 400 booths
from domestic and for-
eign businesses. Themed
‘Exploring the Red River
Delta - The source of Viet-
namese culture’, the mart
is part of the National
Tourism Year 2013 and
the 2013 Tourism Pro-
motion Programs. Of the
participating booths, 250
will showcase domestic
businesses, while 150 will
be taken by companies
from the South Korea,
Thailand, Taiwan, Ma-
laysia, Singapore, Japan,
Indonesia, France and
Australia.
The tourism compa-
nies will be encouraged
to discount their products
by at least 20 per cent
for the upcoming tour-
ist season, between May
and December this year.
The event, organised
by the Vietnam Interna-
tional Administration of
Tourism, the Hanoi Peo-
ple’s Committee and the
Vietnam Tourism Associ-
ation, aims to introduce
the very latest tourism
products.

The Great East Japan
Earthquake Press Photo Ex-
hibition offers an opportu-
nity to both remember the
earthquake and tsunami
that devastated the Tohoku
region and gain a sense of
the progress made towards
recovery. Two years on
from the destruction caused
by the earthquake, the af-
fected areas of the Tohoku
region are steadily working
towards recovery
