Japan’s
Waseda
health Sciences Educa-
tion Corporation just
inked a land lease con-
tract with Ecopark’s de-
veloper, Viet Hung Urban
Development and Invest-
ment JSC. Plans are now
set to build the first in-
ternational medical uni-
versity in Vietnam- the
Tokyo Vietnam Medical
University - at a cost of
$19 million.
Design and construc-
tion will take two years,
meaning the the world-
class university will open in
2015. Initially, two majors
will be on offer: nursery
and physiotherapy. In suc-
cessive years, the univer-
sity will expand training,
with other majors such as
functional rehabilitation
and clinical science. Even-
tually, it will have an intake
of 1,500 students.
The
international
university will be part of
Ecopark city and will in-
clude an auditorium area,
a research and practice
area, plus indoor and out-
door sport compounds.
Design and construction
will be handled by inter-
national contractors.
