A new twist
F
or events such as weddings or
conventions, the right venue is
key. In recent years, there has
been much development in the
wedding and convention centre sector;
however, one problem which faces such
venues is how to compete with the ma-
jor hotels which offer similar services.
The Adora is one of Vietnam’s big-
gest players in this market. Owned by
the Dong Phuong Group, which also
owns the renowned Le Dong Phuong
wedding venues and restaurants, it pro-
vides a backdrop for wedding ceremo-
nies and receptions.
The first ever Adora, namely The
Adora - Nguyen Kiem in Go Vap dis-
trict, has created many fond memories
for brides and grooms with fine ban-
queting choices and subtle decorations
which seamlessly merge Vietnamese
tradition with European styles. The new
Adora - Grand View will open in a cou-
ple of months and promises to take
luxury to the next level.
Bui Thanh Luong, executive direc-
tor of Dong Phuong Group, says: “So
far, we have two chains of wedding and
convention centres - The Adora and Le
Dong Phuong. With seven centres and
over 50 banquet halls which can serve
30,000 guests at the same time, we are
proud to be one of the leading conven-
tion centres in Ho Chi Minh City.”
The Adora – Grandview is an awe-
inspiring, stately building - a white cas-
tle which seems to float in its own oasis
in the middle of District 5. Big and bold,
quiet and intimate, contemporary or
fairy-tale - wedding couples are spoilt
for choice when it comes to how they
want their wedding to be.
“With a total floor space of over
22,000 square metres spread over sev-
en halls, all decked out with sleek inte-
riors with calming shades of white, we
have a capacity of almost 5,000 guests
Our venue is the biggest destination for
banqueting, weddings and conferences
for District 5 and the surrounding area,”
says Vu Thanh Tam, chairman of Dong
Phuong Group.
He adds: “We also take pride in our
professional and attentive service, with
our management team coming from top
five-star hotels such as Sheraton, Inter-
Continental and Nikko. We also have
a kitchen team trained by Hong Kong
chefs, assuring top quality dining.”
The Adora has organised sev-
eral events for corporations such as
Ajinomoto, KFC, Sabeco, BIDV and
Home Credit.
According to Luong, each business
has its own needs and their customers
have very high standards.
Considering why guests prefer to
attend events outside of a hotel, Luong
says: “I think it is more interesting for
guests if they stay in a hotel, join the
event in a convention centre and have
lunch in a special local restaurant. This
is one of the advantages of convention
centres compared to the hotel; another
is the specialised of the service”.
The group has become major rival
for the hotels, especially in terms of
MICE services and they look set to be-
come a stronger player: “We also plan
to build two more The Adora centres in
Phu Nhuan district in 2015,” says Luong.
