T
he Sofitel Plaza Hanoi has re-
cently been awarded a Certifi-
cate of Excellence by TripAdvi-
sor, a Guide Award and a World
Luxury Hotel Award among many oth-
er honours.
“Those awards are a truly meaning-
ful recognition of our dedicated team’s
constant efforts throughout the hotel’s
renovation. They help demonstrate
Sofitel’s success in continually upgrad-
ing its products and services to pro-
vide guests with the best experience
possible,” said Antoine Lhuguenot, the
hotel’s general manager.
“We will savour those awards and
then redouble our efforts to ensure our
clients’ highest expectations are always
met. Hopefully, this will enable us to
toast further success in years to come,”
he added.
Sofitel Plaza Hanoi offers a unique,
non-standardised service, combining
French roots – a classic combination
of elegance, savoir-faire and the art of
hospitality – with the best of local cul-
ture in Vietnam.
The hotel was relaunched mid-last
year after a landmark renovation. The
redesigned Luxury Club Rooms use cha-
teau-inspired fabrics juxtaposed with
oriental motifs and sleek silhouettes
with old-world pieces.
The designers capitalised on the
skill of Vietnamese artisans to execute
their vision. Locally sourced and manu-
factured products make up the majority
of the lanterns, furniture, pots, porce-
lain, rugs and artworks used in the re-
design. Meanwhile, the images in the
hotel’s renovated rooms, corridors and
restaurants capture scenes of the area
surrounding the hotel.
The feeling of luxury culminates
in the hotel’s Plaza Ballroom. Able to
accommodate 500 people, the room
comes complete with mirrored ceil-
ings, marble walls, and sparkling crystal
chandeliers. Here, designers used a pal-
ette of reds, golds and silvers to create
a contemporary effect.
Just outside the ballroom, in the
hotel’s flagship fine-dining venue, Ming
Restaurant, the concept is openness.
Timber panels, a line of pedestals with
potted bonsai, and a corner tea lounge
harken back to Ming’s culinary roots.
Twelve distinct and dramatically over-
sized lanterns line the restaurant’s wall
overlooking the hotel lobby and atrium,
while on the other side, diners look out
over tree-lined Thanh Nien Boulevard.
Thanks to the hotel’s lakeside lo-
cation, the newly furnished rooms of-
fer breath-taking views over West Lake,
Truc Bach Lake, or the boulevard.
Nowhere in the property are the
views more central to the picture than
in the Summit Lounge. The hotel’s
20th floor nightspot delivers stunning
360-degree views of the sprawling capi-
tal, two of its legendary lakes and the
Red River in the distance.
“Our dedicated team constantly de-
livers memorable touches that create an
exceptional experience. We continuous-
ly maintain and upgrade our rooms and
facilities to ensure ultimate comfort,”
said Lhuguenot.
The revamping of the Sofitel Plaza Hanoi
has paid off in spades with a host of accolades and
awards and its growing stature as Hanoi’s top hotel.
