Stunning beaches
Several dozen romantic beach-
es spread along Phu Yen’s coastline
where the meeting of mountains
and sea provides wonderful back-
drops. Next to eucalyptus fields
and green coconut forests are sand
dunes and calm seas, ideal for re-
freshment and entertainment.
Vung Ro bay
Vung Ro bay is accessible to 5,000+ dead
weight tonnage ships. The bay consists of scores
of inlets like Bai Lach, Bai Mu U, Bai Chua, Bai
Bang, Da Bia-Vung Ro-Deo Ca which are historical,
cultural and tourism venues in the province.
Notably, this is an important stopover which
was part of the legendary sea-based Ho Chi Minh
Trail which received several hundred tonnes of
weapons carried by Doan Tau Khong So from the
north to support the southern battle-field during
war time.
Xuan Dai bay
Pristine Xuan Dai bay, around 45km north of Tuy Hoa
city, is recommended as one of most beautiful bays in the
world. The bay is a remarkable sightseeing spot in Phu
Yen, where scenic natural charms can be found, includ-
ing Ganh Den, Ganh Do, Ganh Ba, and beaches can also
be found at Binh Sa, Bai Than, Bai Bang, Tu Nham, Nhat
Tu Son.
During war time, Xuan Dai bay witnessed many im-
portant historical events. Vung Lam, part of the bay, used
to be the most animated commercial port in the province
and a gateway linking Phu Yen to the outside world. Just
come to Phu Yen to be indulged in its unique beauty.
Stone musical instruments
Tuy An lithophone is a musical instrument made
using eight slabs of stone. It dates back around 2,500
years and was unearthed in 1992 at a mountain (Nui
Mot) in Tuy An district’s An Nghiep commune. This is
reportedly the best sounding lithophone ever found
in Vietnam.
Ken Da (a stone-made horn) was discovered in late
1995 in Tuy An district’s An Tho commune and dates
back 2,500 years. It has two holes with a spiral edge
inside, allowing different pitches to be produced.
