Luxury Travel has
recruited a California-based
team to sell its Vietnam
and Indochina tours and
holidays to other tour opera-
tors on the west coast of the
US. With many years in the
tourism industry as an Asia
specialist, Paul Ciaccio has
been engaged as regional
sales manager. According
to Paul, the bulk of growth
from the U.S. to Asia derives
from the upper-middle to
luxury-end of the market,
which comprises a small
portion of the US outbound
market. “The US outbound
engine is revving up once
again. After having suffered
heavy blows in the after-
math of the 2008 financial
crisis, we are seeing a surge
in bookings to Vietnam from
the US. We recorded a 30
per cent rise in booking vol-
ume to Indochina this year,
compared to 2011. Vietnam,
Cambodia and Myanmar are
experiencing the strongest
uplifts, and the US is one of
our top ten markets.” said
Pham Ha, founder and CEO
of Luxury Travel.

their talents during the buf-

Three of the world’s fin-
est hotels are located in Viet-
nam, according to the latest
edition of the ‘T+L 500’,
Travel + Leisure magazine’s
annual compendium of the
best international hotels.
The Nam Hai in Hoi An won
a spot on the list for the first
time, while Sofitel Legend
Metropole Hanoi and Park
Hyatt Saigon made the cut
again. “It’s great company to
be in,” said Albert Lafuente,
The Nam Hai’s director of
sales and marketing. “We’re
six years old now, but we’re
getting better with age.” The
‘T+L 500’ is determined by
readers of Travel + Leisure,
the world’s highest circulat-
ing travel magazine. Voting
categories include rooms,
