From November 13, 2017, the British Embassy in Hanoi and the Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City will no longer legalise UK documents.
The legalisation of UK documents will now go through the UK Legalisation Office

After this date, documents which the Vietnamese Government need to be legalised, including university degrees, teaching qualification certificates, and UK police checks, must be legalised by the UK Legalisation Office and then by the Vietnamese Embassy in London.

The British Embassy has made these changes to ensure full compliance with the requirements of the Vietnamese authorities and, importantly, to free up time for consular staff to provide more support to their most vulnerable customers, for example, minors, the elderly, people with mental health problems, and victims of serious crime.

The British Embassy will continue to provide other notarial and documentary services to British nationals in Vietnam.
