A two-day forum organised by the ASEAN Women Entrepreneurs Network (AWEN) aimed at creating more opportunities for women entrepreneurs got underway on March 6 in Hanoi.

Those in attendance at the event included representatives of the party and State, ministries and embassies, the ASEAN Secretariat, as well as a host of international organisations, business associations and more than 300 women entrepreneurs.

Speaking at the opening, Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan said the formation of ASEAN later this year would bring with it more opportunities and challenges for women business leaders.

Doan said that to best take advantage of the opportunities presented, women in the business community should be innovative, creative and analytical with foresight to lead the nation into a new era of regional and global integration.

This is the first time that the Vietnam Women Entrepreneurs Council (VWEC) has organised the event and it has been timed to coincide with the International Women's Day (March 8) holiday.
