Amway backs Operation Smile mission

Amway Vietnam, a subsidiary of multi-level marketing firm Amway, and Operation Smile Vietnam last week opened five-day free medical check-up and surgeries mission to support children with cleft lips and palate deformities.

This is the 6th consecutive year of partnership between Amway Vietnam and Operation Smile Vietnam in their efforts to bring smiles and hope to children with cleft lips across the country.

Over the last five years, the One by One Campaign for Children by Amway Vietnam has helped more than 4,000 disadvantaged children, including children with cleft lips and palate deformities and impoverished children who are at risk of early school drop-out across the country.

“We are happy to continue partnership with Operation Smile to bring smiles and hopes to the less fortunate children. With a vision of every child is an opportunity to have the better lives, we hope our mission continue bringing disadvantaged children the brighter smiles and help them turn back to a normal life. This is our long-term commitment for the future development of the country,” said How Kam Chiong, general director of Amway Vietnam.

This corporate social responsibility is a part of One By One Campaign initiated by Amway Global in order to assist disadvantaged children all over the world.

In Vietnam, during the 2008-2010 period, Amway Vietnam partnered with Operation Smile Vietnam and Hands of Hope to contribute VND2.4 billion ($115,000) to fund community projects, helping 3,000 disadvantaged children throughout the country.

For the period of 2011-2013, Amway Vietnam continues its “The Journey for Smile and Hope” with a contribution of more than VND6 billion ($288,000) in partnership with the Child Protection and Care Department under the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Thanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs,

The Youth newspaper  and Operation Smile Vietnam. In addition to financial aid, Amway Vietnam also encourages its staff and distributors to volunteer in those activities to support and cheer up the needy children.
