Vietnam Young Spikes comes back for fifth season to Glorify Vietnam

Vietnam Young Spikes is officially back with the theme of "Glorify Vietnam." This is the fifth consecutive time AIM Academy has brought the Asia-Pacific’s prestigious marketing and communications competition to Vietnam.

The fifth Vietnam Young Spikes is now officially underway

Competing in three categories, including Digital, Integrated, and Media, the competition will find six excellent representatives of Vietnam to enter the Young Spikes Competition at Spikes Asia Festival, taking place in Singapore in September 2018.

Spikes Asia is the oldest and most prestigious event in the marketing and communications industry in the Asia-Pacific. Each year, the festival attracts more than 1,800 attendants from 35 different countries. In particular, Young Spikes Competitions is the most highlighted activity, with the participation of under-30 contestants who are the pride of each country, competing in different categories. In Vietnam, Vietnam Young Spikes is a national competition to select outstanding representatives to compete in Singapore. This competition has gone through four seasons, discovering many young talents.

Especially, in 2017, for the very first time in a regional competition, Vietnam representatives successfully won the Silver Prize in the Digital Category, bringing glory to the Vietnamese creative industry. This has also shown that Vietnamese creativity has been reaching regional standards.

Continuing the spirit of the previous season, Vietnam Young Spikes 2018 promises to be more intense and interesting than ever, with the theme “Glorify Vietnam.” The briefs will be given out online, livestreamed on the AIM Academy Youtube channel. After that, each team (two persons per team) has 48 hours to complete their submissions. This year, the jury panels are formed with the most prestigious names in the Vietnamese marketing and communication industry, such as Ogilvy, Le Media, Leo Burnett, Buzzmetrics, Google Vietnam, and Mindshare.

Talking about this year's theme, Pham Thi Dieu Anh, head of the organising board and managing director of AIM Academy, said: "As the organiser of Vietnam Young Spikes for five consecutive years, we have witnessed the remarkable progress of contestants, especially the impressive Silver prize at the Young Spikes Competitions 2017. This will not only be a motivation but also a big challenge for the contestants in 2018, as they will look to surpass this to glorify Vietnam in the regional arena."

Vietnam Young Spikes 2018 includes two different types of contestants: Industry Practitioners and Students, each receiving three awards, including Gold, Silver, and Bronze in three categories: Integrated, Media, and Digital (there is no Media category for students). Additionally, AIM Academy is also giving out prizes to the agencies and universities with the most winners across five seasons.

Nguyen Thi Uyen Chi (Mirum Agency), from the Silver winning team in the Digital Category of Young Spikes Competitions 2017, shared: “My teammate and I will never forget the remarkable experiences we had at Spikes Asia, especially because we received the Silver prize in Digital category. This might be a minor achievement but to me, it was a huge honour that Vietnam was named in the regional competition. I believe this experience will ignite and spread the passion among the Vietnamese creative community.”

Moreover, Vietnam Young Spikes has opened the student league to give Vietnamese students a chance to challenge themselves in the creative industry before diving into the professional world. The Gold winners of the Student League will receive up to two full trips with Student Spikes Passes to Spikes Asia.

Vietnam Young Spikes is a national competition searching for young talents to represent Vietnam in Young Spikes Competitions, Singapore. In 2014, AIM Academy was selected as the organiser of this competition in Vietnam, to select the winning teams to continue competing in Spikes Asia in Singapore.

In 2015 Vietnam Young Spikes opened the student league, besides the industry practitioner league.
