Founded in 1993, the World Travel Awards are designed to acknowledge, reward, and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries. Hailed as “The Oscars of the Travel Industry” by the Wall Street Journal, the WTA brand is recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of industry excellence.

WTA Asia & Oceania also named Van Don International Airport, developed by Sun Group in Quang Ninh province, with a hugely prestigious prize: “Asia’s Leading New Airport”. Receiving this award is an honour, not only for Sun Group and Quang Ninh province, but also for the Vietnamese aviation industry — it is the first time a Vietnamese airport has won an award at the WTA.

Commenting on a series of prestigious international awards for Sun Group’s landmark projects, Dang Minh Truong, chairman of Sun Group, said: “Winning these awards is an honour for Sun Group and recognises the tireless efforts of our organisation, which has always sought to transform the tourism industry in Vietnam by delivering uniquely designed, luxurious, and high-quality tourism products. I believe that this recognition from World Travel Awards Asia & Oceania and World Luxury Hotel Awards will help fly the flag for Vietnam throughout the region and on the world map. These achievements are also a strong motivation for Sun Group to continue on our mission to create more timeless landmarks that will contribute to the dynamic development of Vietnam’s tourism industry.”

Since its inception in Vietnam in 2007, Sun Group has gradually affirmed its leading position as a developer of world-class tourism products and service, infrastructure, and tourism real estate. The group has helped to raise the profile of Vietnam on the world’s tourism map. Winning 23 prestigious awards certainly recognises the outstanding quality of Sun Group’s projects and strategic vision. These awards are also a great honour and source of pride for the whole Vietnamese tourism industry as the country continues on its journey toward becoming one of the most attractive destinations in the region and the world.

Established in 2006, World Luxury Hotel Awards is the pinnacle of achievement in the luxury hotel industry, offering international recognition as voted by guests, travellers, and industry players alike. Over 300,000 international travellers vote each year, during a four-week period to select the winners.
