Rolls-Royce makes 'progress' on cause of A380 engine failure

Rolls-Royce said Monday it had "made progress" in understanding the cause of the mid-air blowout of one of its engines on a Qantas Airbus A380 last week.
The British group was issuing only its second statement since Thursday's incident in Singapore involving a Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engine, which has seen its shares take a battering.
"Rolls-Royce has made progress in understanding the cause of the engine failure on the Trent 900-powered A380 Qantas flight QF32 on 4 November 2010. It is now clear this incident is specific to the Trent 900 engine," the statement said.
