On the occasion of the DPRK-US Summit in Hanoi, a business has issued the “World Peace” coin and people have been waiting since early morning to get their hands on one.
Nguyen Thi Luan has been waiting since 7.00am to buy a coin for her son’s birthday.
The coin is made of silver and is 3.5cm in diameter. One face carries the image of a dove, a symbol of peace, an olive branch, and the flags of the DPRK and the US. The other face is adorned by the image of a lotus and the date of the summit.
The shop started selling the coins at 9.25am this morning. Le Thi Thanh Hue, who arrived at 6.00am, was the first buyer.

The business issued only 300 coins, while more than 400 people registered to buy.
Earlier, the US also issued 1,000 coins for the occasion of the second DPRK-US Summit on February 23, costing $100 apiece. Last year, the White House released a “trip coin” to celebrate the first summit for $19.95, while Singapore also issued a “World Peace” coin made of gold for SGD1,380 ($1,024).
Some customers also bought the set of stamps depicting the Vietnamese flag and the bird of peace, carrying the line “partnership for sustainable peace” launched to welcome the historic DPRK-US Hanoi Summit.
