The newly appointed general director Jamie Harper will be responsible for overall operations, managing Microsoft’s strategic business and development initiatives in Vietnam.

Harper is a Microsoft veteran of 12 years, with experience operating in emerging markets, most recently in South Africa.

“Vietnam has a clear and ambitious national agenda – to develop a strong and globally competitive information and communications technology (ICT) industry by 2020, and, as part of this, to become a leader in ICT for the region.

“Microsoft’s role is to help Vietnam achieve these goals by continuing to build capacity in our local partners, educating the workforce in strong ICT skills, and delivering world-class products and services to our customers and partners in Vietnam,” said Tracey Fellows, vice president Microsoft Asia Pacific.

“The Microsoft Vietnam story began over 15 years ago, and we are proud to continue to invest in the country. Vietnam will continue to emerge as a strong international ICT market and as a leader in the ASEAN area,” said Harper.
