- Achievement and recognition awards

Publicly respecting the contributions of top performers can make a huge difference when it comes to retaining and engaging them. Awards span a wide range, including on-the-spot awards, informal recognition and peer recognition programmes where employees recognise their colleagues and have a chance to nominate one another for awards. Some multinational companies with a presence here understand the cultural importance of family in Vietnam, and have imbibed local sentiments by making sure they invite parents and families to recognition award ceremonies.

- Education benefits

Education benefits show that a company truly values its employees and their future. One of the most innovative employers in Vietnam is the IT software company Atlassian (in Partnership with Pyramid Consulting). Human Resources manager Nguyen Quyen said “Contrary to most outsourcing companies in Vietnam, we foster autonomous product development teams by investing in the continuous training and development of our employees. We want the workplace to be fun and engaging for all our employees, and we offer out-of-the-box incentives like international exchange programmes, and a quarterly innovative day called Global Shipit and rotations.”

Closer to home, Navigos Group takes talent management practices very seriously. We spoke to Navigos Group CEO Gaku Echizenya, “It is our objective to create the most engaging professional experience for our employees,” he said. Navigos Group has recently launched many innovative incentives for employees such as Urgent Case Day. Gaku explains it as, “Our dream makers are responsible for their jobs and results. We give them the option of working from home for five days”. They also have other benefits such as two months of salary in advance, gym memberships and regular employee awards. Gaku sums it up as, “The return on our investment is directly related to business outcomes such as higher customer satisfaction, loyalty, profitability and lower turnover.”
