The CSI is aimed at promoting sustainable development in the Vietnamese business community and has been developed as a gauge of corporate values based on sustainable development criteria in the fields of the economy, environment and society.
The CSI is also used as the base criteria for ranking and celebrating the most sustainable companies in Vietnam.
This is the first year VCCI has coordinated with the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA), the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE), the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) and the State Securities Commission (SSC) to organise "the Most Sustainable Companies in Vietnam 2016" award.
“We are extremely delighted and proud of this award. In a year in which our business performance is reaching new heights and we acquired a new brewery, it is even more important to be recognised for our commitment to sustainability and achieving this growth in a sustainable manner,” said Leo Evers, managing director of HEINEKEN Vietnam Brewery. “This is a great encouragement for our management team and all of our staff who are deeply committed to the sustainability agenda in Vietnam and our strategic focus to Brew a Better Vietnam. This means we want to not only be the best brewer in Vietnam, but also the most sustainable brewer in Vietnam.”
Earlier in September 2016, HEINEKEN Vietnam Brewery released its second annual Sustainability Report - “Brewing a Better Vietnam”, which aims to demonstrate HEINEKEN Vietnam Brewery’s long-term commitment to sustainable development in Vietnam.
The sustainability report includes HEINEKEN Vietnam Brewery’s achievements in six main areas, which are advocating responsible consumption, protecting water resources, reducing CO2 emissions, growing with communities, sourcing sustainably, and promoting health and safety, linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
“It is recognition for some of the tough decisions we have made such as continued investment in our breweries to improve their water and energy efficiency, and pursuing biomass and other renewable-energy solutions over short-term cheaper non-renewable solutions,” said Evers. “This achievement will only make us more ambitious in continuing to improve our sustainability performance in the future.”
“This award is also a meaningful present for us as we celebrate HEINEKEN Vietnam Brewery’s 25-year anniversary, look back on 25 years of wonderful achievements, and look forward to many more years of sustainable growth in Vietnam,” he added.
