Dat Viet VAC launches flagship entertainment application VieON

After four years of research and development, Dat Viet VAC's new flagship entertainment application named VieON has been launched on June 15, offering to serve the growing Vietnamese internet community with a variety of entertainment options catered to their personal taste.

Jointly developed by Dat Viet VAC, a leading Vietnamese entertainment and communications tech group, and global consultancy company BCG Digital Ventures, the new application is expected to be an outstanding OTT (over-the-top) application that provides the most creative content and the most complete live-broadcasted content library in Vietnam.

With 100 channels and over 100,000 hours of blockbusters, combined with other excellent features such as personalised content or livestreaming, VieON is about to bring many fresh and continuously-updated entertainment contents on an innovative platform.

VieON – differentiate to develop

The OTT market in Vietnam has a considerable room to develop, with more than half of the population accessing the internet regularly. Moreover, the number of users is expected to increase by 38 per cent (to 92 per cent) by 2023, in which each person would spend six to seven hours using internet services a day, according to Statista figures.

Therefore, domestic and international OTT providers are thriving to penetrate this industry. The lack of a legal framework as well as censorship, however, has created significant challenges for businesses in Vietnam.
