8,149 health insurance cards to be handed out to the poor

Hanwha Life Vietnam, in collaboration with the Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients in Ho Chi Minh City, signed a cooperation agreement to donate free healthcare cards to improve living conditions and access to healthcare services for the poor.

The VND1.4-billion ($70,500) programme will donate a total of 8,149 health insurance cards to the poor in the four provinces of Nghe An, Ca Mau, Kon Tum, and Lam Dong.

At the signing ceremony, more than 4,500 health insurance cards were handed out to disadvantaged households in the central province of Nghe An.

Hanwha Life Vietnam has been implementing the project for five consecutive years since 2014.

Back Jong Kook, CEO cum chairman of the Members’ Council of Hanwha Life Vietnam, said: “As an insurance firm, we realise the importance of community healthcare, especially for disadvantaged people. Through our co-operation with the Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients in Ho Chi Minh City, we pledge to improve access to healthcare services and the quality of life for the Vietnamese community.”

Between 2014 and 2017, Hanwha Life Vietnam has donated more than 37,500 health insurance cards, 30 houses, and 360 gifts with the total value in excess of VND9.4 billion ($414,000) to poor people in 14 cities and provinces.

In November last year the firm provided $100,000 to build a new preventive medical centre in Lang Ngam in Bac Kan province’s Ngan Son district.

In 2015 the firm donated money to build two preventive medical centres in Hoa Binh province.

Hanwha Life Vietnam has also made an effort to improve learning conditions and foster the development of younger generations.

In the last few years it has sponsored the construction of many schools and houses for poor people, including Xom Ong Primary School in Nam Phong commune and a kindergarten in Cuoi Ha commune, both in Hoa Binh province. Since 2012, Hanwha Life Vietnam has donated over 160 charity houses in the Mekong Delta and nearly 20 provinces nationwide.

Last year, Hanwha Life Vietnam was named among the top 10 Sustainable Businesses in Vietnam by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

This achievement is strong proof of the firm’s unceasing efforts to achieve sustainable development in Vietnam, not only through its business, but also through various community projects.

Hanwha Life Vietnam was the proud winner of the 2015 Corporate Social Responsibility Awards handed out by the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) together with the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

It has more than 110 customer service centres and 35,000 financial consultants, and serves 200,000 customers around the country.
