|AkzoNobel unearths courage with Brave Brownas colour of the year 2021|
Brave Brown evokes the naturality and warmth of the Earth, brings security, stability, growth, and potential to help create a space that inspires. According to expert research into global trends, insight and consumer behaviour conducted at AkzoNobel’s Global Aesthetic Centre, the colour helps to connect us back to nature and the simple things, giving us a strong foundation for embracing change. In home design, as a neutral colour, Brave Brown can be used in a way that allows other colours to shine.
“We have seen unprecedented global change, with all of us facing experiences that feel out of kilter with the modern world. At the same time, we’ve rediscovered more positive things: solidarity in communities, strangers’ generosity, and the realisation that together we can do extraordinary things. We’re finding the courage to pick ourselves up and move forward. Our homes provide a sanctuary, a place to restore, repair, and recalibrate ourselves on the road to recovery. Therefore, we introduce to our customers Brave Brown – a colour that will bring stability and warmth to their home in 2021,” said Heleen van Gent, creative director of AkzoNobel’s Global Aesthetic Centre to explain about how Brave Brown would help in the coming year.
Oscar Wezenbeek, managing director at AkzoNobel Decorative Paints, Southeast and South Asia said, “We estimate that there will be a need to be proud, to be stronger together, to move forward and tread lightly to a bright future. This will be all about being brave that is essential to take comfort in the coming times of changing and unstable world. Brave Brown with its natural and neutral shade could stabilise our surroundings with the resilience of nature, the solidity of the earth, the sanctuary of our homes.”
For the 18th year running, leading design professionals from all over the world were invited by AkzoNobel’s Global Aesthetics Centre to explore global design and lifestyle trends to capture the mood of the moment in the Colour of the Year and the ColourFutures 2021 palettes. The choice of Brave Brown will inspire four beautiful versatile colour palettes that allow consumers to confidently express themselves including the expressive, the trust, the timeless, and the earth.
With this abundance of mix-match options, Brave Brown will also inspire the specialty coatings portfolio including the automotive, aerospace, and consumer electronics markets; powder coating portfolio including the architectural, furniture and domestic appliance markets; wood coatings portfolio in the furniture, cabinetry, flooring, and building products markets.
Pamela Phua, general director of AkzoNobel Vietnam said, “2020 is passing with turbulent emotions. Through the introduction of Brave Brown, we hope to offer a new balance to our customers in the coming year. With the ability to remind us of the calm and deposition of the earth, the colour could give courage and stability, and energise them to get ready for a new period of growth.”
