Warnings against Pokemon Go appear on HCM City electronic boards

On major roads in HCM City, electronic LED panels reminding people not to play Pokemon Go while driving have been installed.

According to an official from the HCM City Department of Transport, 44 electronic information panels on main roads like 3/2, An Duong Vuong, Hoang Van Thu display the words: "Do not play Pokemon Go while joining traffic."

The text will only appear during off-peak hours, because the main function of these electronic boards is information about the traffic situation.

The electronic information boards were set up last December on major roads with frequent traffic jams.

This is the first time that a mobile game has affected the traffic in Vietnam. Previously, the electronic boards only displayed information about the road sections where congestion occurred and gave advice to people not to drink while driving.

In recent weeks, HCM City recorded cases of snatching smartphones of those who were playing Pokemon Go on the road and the disorder at some parks at midnight caused by Pokemon hunters.

A few days ago, the Ministry of Information and Communication made five recommendations to the players of Pokemon Go in Vietnam, including not playing the game near military, security and defense areas.

The military headquarters of Binh Dinh province has banned all soldiers and staff in the local military forces from playing this game.
