VN urges Russia to ratify FTA

Vietnamese PM Nguyen Tan Dung on Sunday urged Russia to quickly ratify the free trade agreement between Viet Nam and the Eurasian Economic Union while meeting with Russian PM Medvedev on the margin of the 27th ASEA Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This is the 3rd meeting of the two PMs this year, reflecting the friendship and mutual trust and understanding between the two countries.

The two PMs expressed their pleasure at the developments in the bilateral economic and trade ties over the past time, especially the signing of the above free trade agreement, which is expected to open up great opportunities for the advancement of the Viet Nam – Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Both sides agreed to direct competent agencies to make thorough preparations for the upcoming Intergovernmental Commission on Economic - Trade and Scientific - Technical Cooperation scheduled to take place in Ha Noi on November 25.

Regarding the East Sea issue, Russian PM Medvedev underlined the importance of settling disputes through peaceful measures and relevant parties need to strictly comply with international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
