China ’s construction of two lighthouses in the Chau Vien (Cuarteron) and Gac Ma (Johnson) reefs in Viet Nam ’s Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago seriously violates Viet Nam ’s sovereignty.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Le Hai Binh made that statement in response to a reporter’s question about Viet Nam’s reaction against China’s construction of two lighthouses.

Once again, Viet Nam affirms to have full legal and historical evidence for its indisputable sovereignty over the Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagos.

Activities conducted by other sides on the archipelagos without Viet Nam’s permission are illegal and worthless, he added.

China’s construction of two lighthouses was contrary to the common perspectives of both countries’ leaders, complicating the situation and causing tension, he said, adding that Viet Nam resolutely rejects and strongly protests China’s action.
